Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
