Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
