Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
