A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.
