The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
