The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Actor for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
Netflix announced Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Mr. 2. The role has the ability to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will play a version of that role reimagined as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, differing from the source material and animated series.
The new cast member is joined by multiple recently announced actors who will portray the organization to life, such as leader Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though Bon Clay is a important part of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Considering the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest additional alterations to the story’s structure.
Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
